Thermostat Replacement Costs

Hi!

I am taking my '04 C230K to the shop (not dealer) tommorrow to see if my thermostat is defective (scan code P0128). What should I expect a reasonable estimate for this repair to be? I do not want to get taken for a ride and I can't seem to get a good feel for what it would cost?

Thanks

If your car is a 04 model, it may still be under warranty. If your not sure give any MB dealer your VIN#. They will be able to tell you. If it is, I would take it to the dealer. I don't believe there would be any charge if under warranty. The P0128 code (coolant below regulating temperature) is most likely the thermostat needs to be replaced. It could also be the "coolant temperture sensor" unit gone bad. But unlikely. Good Luck.

I think you are on the right track. I was told when the stat goes it stays in the open position. Therefore, too cool.
