I have a 2001 C320, and my hood won't seem to fully close. I have tried slamming the crap out of the hood, and it still will not close. Its the driver side that will not lock. any ideas on what can cause this problem? thanks

 

That's odd, never had a car that latched on the sides, all of mine latch in the center. Are you sure something didn't get left under the hood, a screwdriver, wrench, small animal and it's blocking you from closing it?

 

close it and use your hand to push it down where the latch is on the driver side. if it still doesn't lock, then the latch is broken.

 

nah there's nothing blocking it. i think imma just run it down to my neighbors shop tomorrow and see what he says. thank you though

 

Have you tried adjusting the rubber stopper on the driver's side? They just screw in/out to adjust if I remember correctly, might need a 1/4 turn somewhere.

Also, check the latch itself and see if there's something caught inside.

 

Same thing with my 03 c240. I thought that the muffled knocking sound was coming from my suspension every time I'm on rough roads but I believe it's my hood that won't fully close.
It has a little "play" when you push it down.
Tried tightening the hood latch screws but nothing seems to be working.
It gets irritating sometimes.....
