rain-sensing wipers inoperable

After my recent visit to dealer for Service A the rain sensing wipers no longer sense rain - they have turned into regular ones with a fixed (6 sec.) intermittent mode. Bummer. I'm wondering if the technician accidentally disabled them through the Star system... Anyone else had this happen?

I have a bad sensor so the intermitt won't work or it won't stop wiping even it's no rain drop on the windshield. Bring in to the dealer to replace the sensor with my service A.

Did they have to replace the whole windshield? I was told that they come together-- as ridiculous as that sounds...

Had my sensor replaced -- unit is separate from windshield, although I was initially told that it would require w/s replacement. I assume this means that some MB models have this sensor in the w/s.

Oo! Oo! Please let me know what they did to disable them. I hate the rain-sensing wipers. They wipe either too much or not enough. I'd LOVE a fixed 5-second setting

Have the dealer replace the wiper blades. Mine were chattering so the delaer replaced both of them. As a side effect, the rain sensor seems to work a lot better.

When it works the way it's supposed to, my rain sensor is just perfect; I wouldn't want to miss it.

At times, it's been acting up lately by running constantly even with only a slight drizzle.

Once, I was able to fix that by rubbing the windshield area covering the senser (over the mirror).

Changing the wipers sounds like an interesting option.
I'll have them look at it during my A-service.

I'll keep y'all posted on the results of whatever action was taken.

Well, I disabled the rain sensor! I just pulled off the cover to expose the sensor wiring. I first removed the plug on the left (if you sitting in the driver's seat), but that must have been the wrong one as I got a light malfunction warning on the dash display. I plugged that back in and disconnected the plug on the right. I got no malfunctions and when I tested the intermittent setting I got 1 wipe every 5 to 6 seconds. Sweet! I will be getting new blades anyway since the one on the right seems to "chatter".
