Extending FSS to match 2005-2007
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to start a cohesive thread here. My understanding is that for 2001-2004 W203 C-class has a 15000km (or 10000 miles) service interval. But for 2005-2007 (ie facelifted) ones the service interval is 20000km or ~13000 miles, is this correct?
Anyways, just wondering if there's something we pre-facelift people can do to join the 20000km club (obviously without wrecking our engines).
Any input, especially from someone with a working MB background, would be greatly appreciated~ ^^
Please stay on topic. Thanks

Man, does NOBODY with a pre-facelift W203 want to see if they can save a few bucks by increasing the service interval?
Here, can someone with a 2005 M271 post the part # the dealer uses for a Service A?

The key the the extended intervals for the 05-up is the use of the fleece oil filter and the 229.5 spec oil. What I would suggest is to start running a fleece filter and 229.5 spec oil and run oil analysis to pinpoint your ideal change interval.

Thanks for the reply
Does anyone know if MB made any other changes in the engine other than just the fleece filter and 229.5 oil for 2005? I just find it rather strange that *suddenly* the service interval can jump +33% for a given motor.
Unless MB has been jacking us all along...

I believe that if you have a 112 engine (6 cyl NA) you can use the fleece filter and the specified Mobil 1 0W-40 and extend the drain interval.
I am not sure if a fleece filter exists for the 271 (4 cyl mit Kompressor.) Since the US spec C230 lost the supercharger and gained two cylinders in 2005, it can follow the extended drain interval.
The AMG vehicles retain the 10,000 mile drain interval, but the service literature is silent as to why. Just thinking out loud, without asking my spies at Mobil, I would think the oil might become depleated faster because of the increased products of combustion sent to the crankcase by the increased pressure from the supercharger.
Take the advice of John above, and have an oil analysis. It is the only way to know when the oil is depleated. Color, oder, feel, taste tell you very little.
