Agreed. I have the AMG spoiler and think it's nice and subtle, yet gives the hatch a distinct look.

It's here!

Guess what the UPS man brought for me?
Yup. The wing. It's made out of like this solid plastic.
It's unpainted, but then I got it for 118 including shipping.
Has a few minor scuff marks, which should sand out prior to painting.
Black carbon fiber would look uber cool.
But, if not that then maybe like an obsidian black metallic.

I'll take it by the body shop that worked on my car recently and see if they'll
cut me a deal, all things considered.
(Read my other thread on that titled "Ouch!")

Would carbon fiber tape work?

What about this stuff?
http://www.stickercity.com/store/pro...at=2299&page=1

OR Check this out- Blue! Carbon fiber / Kevlar hybrid fabric....but how to install?

Exactly.
I've seen the AMG "spoiler", and it's barely noticeable.
There was a group buy ages ago...the owner offered it to me for a hundred bucks....someone actually bothered to make a repro?

Yea, that's what I like about it... it looks like it was meant to be there, not just something tacked on afterward. I think I got mine from Steve for about $100 as well because it was the last one he had in stock.

Yes, I see that guy doing weekend prison furlough appreciates it...
LOL ! Still haven't painted yet, going to take the advise try to remove some material on the bottom sides...they put tape there as if you would never open the hatch.
I'm just going to spray paint it myself to see how it looks, but I'm leaning toward like a metallic black...

I think I still feel, it looks different, not necessarily better.
Is this the "Renntech" replica people speak of?

Well got it painted and installed today, but as the rain is supposed to start up tomorrow, and I picked up my car at dusk, might be a while before I post a pic taken in the sun.
I went with Obsidian black, so it'll have some depth and sparkle in the sun.
I told the guy at the body shop I thought we should grind a little material off the ends, as it would contact, but no he says, "I wouldn't", and he has some special tape or some such BS>
So wtf, I go with his recommendation.
Then when I pick up the car, he says "be careful closing the hatch, it pushes up on the spoiler!" DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dammit, I told him that. He was a little peaved as I also had him remove the bumper from the body work done previously, where in the estimate, they called for R&R of both bumper, lights etc.

So, I assumed the mis-alignment of the rear bumper was their fault.
He did the work, but was quick to point out when I picked up the car, that they hadn't ever removed the bumper, ergo, they were not at fault for the misalignment, but had fixed it anyway, such a nice guy.
I started feeling guilty especially as he was whining about the 2.5% cost on the credit card for $100 in paint for the wing, wishing he had cash, (I offered to pay cash tomorrow am).
As it was, apparently I was at fault for the misalignment, but hadn't noticed it before, as I replaced the bumper cover myself.

I left feeling a little guilty, until it dawned on me,
I PAID HIM TO REMOVE AND RE_INSTALL THE BUMPER ALREADY!
Bwaaa ha hahahahahahhahha!!!!

I've barely seen it in the light, but I feel certain my car has gained
20 hp since I put it on.

Most of what I've done to my car is very subtle, well subtle to the average person. Like 13.6" rotors are subtle...my ex didn't notice when I put them on,
(which was good, as she would've flipped if she'd known how much they cost) but a car guy would notice.

The spoiler is really the 1st exterior mod I've done not directly related to performance or handling. Well, that and the clear side markers perhaps, but they still serve a function other than style. Do tinted windows count?
That was more to keep nosey people from noticing what was in the car when I was traveling around for work with all my belongings in the back.

I shaved some material off the backside before putting it on but even after that I would still notice some scuff marks on the taillights where the spoiler comes in contact with the light but it has gotten better over the years; why else would I suggest you to shave some material off the spoiler before putting it on??
