Yeah, that's a lot different than what I've seen. Unfortunately, maybe they changed the mirror design along with the mid-gen update?

Your picture is too dark, with it being so bright outside behind the mirror's innards. However from what I remember it is very close to the edge of the housing itself or furthest to the right side of your picture, beyond and to the right of all the hardware that can be seen in your picture.
ill go outside in a bit and pull the mirror back long enough to try to take a picture of my own.

again, replaced the blinker strip on my wife's 2007 c230 a month ago. it took me a few minutes to find the tab, but its there - and it came off incredibly easily at that point, allowing me to swap the LED strip.

Ok, I just did mine. If you look in behind that brass vertical metal piece on the outside of the guts that's so prominent in your pic, in the top portion, you'll see a plastic indent with a thin metal vertical piece in the indent. That's the "tab" that we've all been talking about.

Make sure to set your mirrors to a very neutral position, so that they don't catch when the housing is released. You need to bend the mirror back towards the rear of the car, then take a flathead, get behind the big brass rod to where that indent with the small metal tab, and push the metat tab towards the car while gently pulling the housing back towards the rear of the vehicle (while keeping the housing bent). What I found easiest to do was to keep the housing bent with my body, while bending the tab with one arm, and pulling the housing from the guts with my other hand. It's kind of a rubbing your tummy while patting your head kind of test.

Good luck, and hope my rambling above helped.

This youtube video clip shows where the clip is and how to do it very clearly:

I have had the same problem with the intermittent fault light on the 2006 W203 dash saying "left mirror light fault" or something similar. Removing the led array from the mirror housing and plugging it straight into the little plug (the one with the brown wires in the photo above) shows me that the LEDs are fine as the light then works and the fault indication goes away.

It is actually the small plug and socket that is not mating properly. I am not sure how to get the contacts to make more tightly - seems that they should be pushed in deeper, but there is no adjustment from what I can see. Any suggestions?

C 230 mirror turn signal, 2007

Today they work. Yesterday error message saying that left side out. locked door and the signal flashed. wondered if the lights have two wires, one for turn one for lock function? Also noticed moisture inside lens could that be causing a problem? How could I dry and seal to keep water out?

This is probably the same problem i battle every now and then. When bumped they tend to work intermittently. There are some wires that seem to get loose that you cant access without taking the mirror housing off. Below is a semi-decent video on how to take them off. If you have to replace the LED, it is very easy and you can get them on ebay for about $35. Be careful with the wires because it doesn't look like an easy replacement if they are damaged.

I've been riding around for about a year with this annoying message and instead of studying for finals I decided today was the day to do something about it. so I pulled the cover off like shown above with the release tab and there are only two screws holding the led strip can be taken off easily enough. then i stripped the weather stipring/ sealer from around the clear lense and pried it open with a screw drive be careful these will break pretty easily. i knicked a corner but its not shown so i didnt worry about it. i checked the connector and was getting max voltage dc of 11V when the signal was on but i was not getting it on the led strip. upon further inspection i saw the connectors on the led side had a bit of corrosion. pulled the led strip off of the gray play holder and hit the leads (metal connectors) with some 400grit sand paper (what i had handy) to clean it up. tested again fired right up no error. Put the lens back on and sealed it with a thin bead of clear silicone. waited about an hour for it to dry then put it back into the cover and on the car. I wish I would of siliconed around the connector because it is not water tight and might of helped keep some of the moisture out. been working all day no problem will update if it fails again or if you guys want a step by step i could pull it apart and actually take pics this time...

materials: sandpaper, silicone, screwdriver, about 20 mins work and 1 hr cure time

Please Help!!!! Going Crazy!!! 04 C230 mirror malfunction

Hello,
Can anyone help me out? I'm loosing my mind with this, I have 2004 C230 Kompressor. When I bought the car it needed a driver side mirror and the dash read 1 malfunction for the Left turn signal. So I purchased an exact mirror from a guy with the same car he was parting out. We assembled it onto my car making sure everything was connected and put on correctly but when I started the car it still reads the malfunction and the power mirror or signal do not work. Is there something I can check or do to get it working?? If anyone can help me out with this I would truly appreciate it. I have been searching for days now and really haven't found an answer. Hope someone might have it. Thanks in advance. -Eric

Hi, I am having a same issue. Did you ever figure out what fixed your problem?

The odd thing though is that if have my turn signal on, the blinker will blink and make the clicking sounds rapidly...Well if i happen to roll the window up or down the blinker slows down to as if there was no problem and then resumes the fast flashing/clicking after the window rolls up or down. Hopefully that just made sense...I was thinking that it might be related some how to the window switch but i guess i need to check the connections on the mirror's LED before doing anything...

If swapping the LED assemblies doesn't fix the problem, then the issue is with a damaged SAM which is unfortunately more expensive.

Angry LHS Turn signal permanently on

Hi, I have a 2007 C180 W203 which has developed a fault with the LH mirror turn signal. The LED bar will not go off and when I measure using a meter I have 12 volts at the terminals without anything switched on. I am assuming it is a bad earth connection but I have stripped the unit down and cleaned it all and it won’t go off. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks.
