I understand some of us dont like the snub on the 03 but if it worked as intended then I would like to add it to my '02.
Is it glued on or screwed on - anyone know???
Peace

It looks like it's just stuck on there either with glue or double sided tape, so sure, you can add it to your car. Let us know what the results are, if it makes it any quieter.

It's definitely not screwed on, and I don't see a transition that would indicate two-sided tape. It's probably glued. You can buy a special glue made for attaching rear-view mirrors to windshields. I've used it myself and can report that it makes a permanent bond.
My car has the 'bump'. There does not seem to be any buffeting at legal speeds with the windows up and the roof open to the first stop. I haven't tried it fully open. By buffeting I mean here the internal beat set up by cyclical changes in the air pressure inside the cabin.

Thanks Lars
It seems like a recommendation to go ahead with the addition, no?
I do hear and feel much wind noise and the turbulence when opening mine to the first stop as you have mentioned. This snub seems to work for you![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks again

that bump is supposedly there to reduce noise from the sun roof?..... sounds good... but seriously the only people that the sunroof affects are the rear passengers.... i open the sun roof all the way, cruising at 60 plus and my passenger doesn't notice a thing..... rear passengers are another story....

Our dealer will be getting one for us soon. We drove a bit last weekend with the roof fully open and windows up and there was buffeting around 60 km/h. I simulated the nub or hump by putting three of my knuckles about 1 cm high into the airflow about in the position where the nub would be and - hey presto - no buffeting.
I can't wait until we install it.

Good point, but the mere raising of the arm in the cabin did not reduce the pounding of the buffeting - only when I put my knuckles into the airflow was the sound affected (it disappeared completely). I'm not sure when we'll get the part as we haven't even ordered it yet...maybe this weekend.

Ok, call me ignorant if you must, but can someone post pictures of this 'nub' or 'hump' so I can tell what you're all talking about?

I have a 04 and 03 coupe (with and without the nub) and there are huge diferences with the roof all the way back...
There are two nubs, one to glue on the <2004 cars and a deflector with the nub integrated on >2004 cars.
The deflector with the nub integrated is +-250€ not sure, I have to searche...

A pic would be great so I know what we're talking about. If it does not look bad, I will add it to my car as I love having the roof open and don't like the wind buffeting.

Here you go. The height of the nub is less than the diameter of a dime, but it works well. I've never understood if it can be purchased separately.
I'm still subscribed to this thread, getting on to four years later. Wonder when was the last time I posted here....

The 04 bump looks as if it's molded into the deflector's trim. is it possible to buy just the trim piece or would I have to replace the entire roof. I'm so not doing that.
