alignment needed??????

I just installed a set of 18x8.5/18x9.5 chrome 3 piece wheels and dropped the car with H&R springs( I also couldn't resist I got PIAA extreme bulbs-BTW very freakin expensive 120 a set!-for my fogs and my headlight-clean look though-and I got chrome muffler tips, debadged the car-gives it a clean look- and ordered the lorinser lip kit-it is going to take 2 WEEKS they are stuck at the ports!?!) So to my question-enough rambling but i'm excited-
when should i do my alignment and do you guys recommend anyone in the san fernando valley? Any help is greatly appreciated.

you should have done an alignment when you got the springs installed. if you didn't, i would do it right away.

I read in one of the threads that they recommend the springs to settle? So that is why I haven't done it...so on average how much should it be?

yes, you now need to get an alignment. If nothing else, it will get toe back where it should be.

okay i understand. i assumed you bought a new set of shocks also. i guess thats not the case. regardless, you will need new shocks in a year's time beacuse the lowering springs will decrease the shocks compression and give them a very short life. in any case, you shocks should settle in about 2 months time.

Wait at least a month before getting the alignment done. Take a look and see that the camber isn't too far off and you won't have a problem waiting.

No need to wait a month, all major spring manufacturers pre-stress the springs nowadays. You won't see any significant sag after a month.

I agree with KWiK. I had H&R Sport Springs installed on my C240 and had my alignment done right away. I have not noticed any additional drop since the springs were installed.

I disagree. I've had the the same springs for a year...the right side sagged an addtional 1/4" and the left a little more than that. In order to correct it, I had to go the the local parts store and buy rubber "helper" inserts to correct it. It's one of the reasons why I'm switching back to Eibachs {Carlsson}. I've owned 3 sets of them with no problems.

CHATMANR,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your springs. I have only had mine for about three months now and so far so good but I will pay closer attention to them given your experience.

There is a note in the H&R cup kit package says that you must do alignment whenever you raise or lower the vehicle ride height.

How about changing wheels... is alignment needed after changing wheels??

No alignment is needed when changing wheels. Changing wheels does not affect the steering geometry.
