2003 C230 Kompressor Coupe
DIY Remove/Replace CD Changer
I just replace the CD changer in my 03 C230 coupe because mine was giving me a "NO CHANGER" message. Here are some pics and a few tips:
Only a T-20 torx screwdriver is needed. Remove the screw shown here. It's a little tough, especially to start.

Once the screw is out, gently pull the deck to the right and towards you.

There are two sets of wires connecting it. One is the optical (bottom set), the other is the power (top set). Start with the optical and release the click tab to pull it out. Gently pull the wire out of the guide and set it back out of the way where the deck used to sit. The power is a little tougher to get out, and there is no click tab, so just keep pulling on the plastic adapter and it will come out.

Take the mounting bracket off; 2 torx screws on each side. Make note of the model number. You can get a new (refurb) one off of ebay for $100 - $150. When searching for a new one, make sure the model numbers match. There are a few models that look identical, but have different numbers. Often, the ebayer you buy it from will buy your old one back for ~$50. Keep your mounting bracket and magazine (remove the mag before taking the deck out) because most come without.

Reinstalling is the exact opposite procedure. Put the mounting bracket on, re-attach wires (gently), slide back into place, and put the screw back in. The only trick to this is being careful with the optical cable.
