Hidden Button On Key Fob!

I just realized if you press the blank area to the right of the "unlock" button really hard for about 2 seconds, your truck hatch pops open! I wonder why MB never mentioned this in the manual nor have a diagram on the button to signify this.

Try it!

Is there a way to get the external 3-button shell for the key without buying the whole key?

They aren't counting the panic button.

The third button is not mentioned in the manual. It's for popping open the trunk.

I am not screwing with you guys. The area to the right side of the unlock button really does work! I tried it last night several times too!

Sheesh,

As a fellow Canadian I'm going to give you the heads up here before you look too foolish. The topic you are discussing has been discussed EXTENSIVELY in numerous other threads dated well before your post. I find it incredible that you haven't seen them yet, but please stop for a second take a peek at any of the threads untiled "Extra Button Thread" and you will see what everyone is talking about.

Dang - you guys are tough!

What intrigues me about this is what in the world posessed him to squeeze the key hard enough and long enough while coincidentally standing near the hatch to notice it pop open.

On second thought, I do believe he's screwing with us...

tberry, I could merge this thread, but then we would lose the context (and humor) of Big Sheesh's "discovery."

Now, Big Sheeshster, either you've been camping in the woods for two weeks, or you've been on a 14-day binge. For the latter, there are 12-step programs... (LOL!)

On UK and euro models, the blank space has a boot open logo on it, I take it that the US doesnt but the button is still on the PCB

i guess i have been away for too long, but i can't figure out why one would need a trunk only button for the key. i did try it, and with lots of pressure i got it to work. but i still don't get the purpose.

It saves you from burning a couple of calories to squeeze the door handle. But and again if you don't switch to the sedan key skins, you'll be losing more calories pressing the hard shell.

If you hit the door close button once and the door open button twice really fast you will also pop the trunk.

Why did MB remove the diagram on the button on the coupe? I guess the boot lid doesn't look the same on the sedan and the coupe, and that is the reason for not putting a diagram there....still weird though.

I went to the dealer and they told me that they cannot change the key without a reason!! and also he told another BS about that it was an option that i did not take!! i said what? yeah but any ways i do not care about the trunk buttom because anyways I have to push it up to open so is not a big deal!! and if you want to see something positive from our remore unit is that we are the only one who have it ( coupes) and it help also to differentiate mine from my dad's E.
