Broken Transmission
So I was driving along in my 2001 C240 Stick shift (89K miles), when I heard a slight grinding noise. I called my dealer, since I figured it was something serious and I did not want to cause any more damage. This was Tuesday.
I got a call back saying that the transmission had to be replaced, since they do not sell some of the parts that are apparently broken. Its going to cost around $3,500.
Is this something that happens regularily? It sucks!!!

Only a problem for automatics. The radiator has an internal leak that mixes coolant with the transmission fluid. I still find it hard to believe that they couldn't get the parts for you. Manual transmissions are easy to repair. There's no reason to replace a whole manual transmission unless the case is broken.
