Door Lock Spaz

So I have my first car problem and that is when I arm the car and/or unlock it, the driver side lock would spaz. Its hard to explain it but it goes up and down a few times before it unlocks/locks the door. My mom had the same issue with her E320 but was covered under warranty and she doesn't take notice of things. My friend also has it on his C240 but unable to pay to get it fixed. Anyone know what I need replace or fix?

It's the door lock actuator.

Between $400 & $500 depending on dealer.

You can D-I-Y, using the instructions here: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ight=lock+pogo

you need a new lock mechanism. my friend just did his. he removed the door panel etc, but just wasn't comfortable with messing with the airbag, so he took it to one of the local mechanic that works on MBs.

$130-$140 parts and $65-80 labor. done.

Phew, thats more reassuring about the price. My warranty just ended 2 months ago and I was expecting something major to go wrong once it expires. Sure enough something did go wrong.

how many miles did you have on your car when the lock went crazy? The same exact thing happened to mine at about 50,200 miles...I have to lock it manually now...sounds like a machine gun when I lock it...

30k on my mom's car, 64k on my car and 12k on my friend's car. Yea I had some fun with the machine noise but it got worst. When I unlock it, it doesn't unlock now. Its a bit of a hassle to climb from the front passenger side to move to the driver's side. But at lease it was amusing and entertaining to some people.

Mine will not lock correctly, sometimes it locks correctly after a few pushes of the lock button...I have to pull on the handle while pressing the unlock button to "catch" the lock in the right spot for the door to open...Yeah it looks funny...I just stopped locking it at some places...
