Climatronic Problem
We installed the Climatronic today (brand new) and we only have heat, no AC...has anyone had this before (and fixed it). I have pushed every button possible.
Thanks,
Erik
Thanks,
Erik
what do you mean you only have heat? If you mean the AC can only spit out hot air than it is really odd. I think you have tried it on the lowest temp setting right? I didn't get that prob with my 03 but have you try to unplugg and plug it again? Maybe there's a loose cable cuz the big cable behind the clima has to be "clamped" in. I dunno. Another possibility is that you might have pushed the EC button. With the EC button on, you'd have no freon coming in and no cold air.

Got it from the dealer, new OEM part.
Like I said, I hit every button several times.
Tried auto...tried manual.
It only blows from the defrost vent and the two side round vents...no air comes out of the "real" vents and I can't adjust the area the air comes out of.
All I was supposed to connect was one harness right?
There is only one way it fits, correct?
This is very odd.
Thanks for your help,
Erik

How much was it from the dealer, if you don't mind me asking?
And do you know the part number?
Thanks! Good luck!

If you guys get yours working I may swing by my dealer and pick one up
MB part number A 203 830 09 85 and is on a 2002 Coupe. Installed two months ago and works great. If you get a new one (like me) you might need a little Silicon spray, the buttons seem to stick a little.

instead of paying MB 600 bucks to make it an option
C230, did your unit have connectors for two harnesses or just one?
Erik, what about your unit?
Just trying to suss out what's different between the two part numbers(probably nothing other than the text on the EC/Rest button, eh
)....
It has two connectors, this same unit was installed in a 2003 and my 2002 and both work great. Check out my post. It's worth the money.

I am taking it apart again Monday to see if I only connected one out of the two parts...otherwise it could be defective.
There are a few differences in the units (older/new) mainly the look of the red and blue buttons (some are faded, others are brighter)...nothing major.
However "tunnel" mode works...if I have the roof open, i hold the button and it closes it. I hold the button again and it opens it.

With my unit I def. had both wires plugged into the back of the unit and was still having the same problem, I will list the part numbers later (when I get back to school)

Are they willing to swap for another one?

I thought that was wierd, but the sticker on the box def. says 209, and it is wierd that all the rest of the numbers match yours... I assume another model. uses the same unit a C 320 parts. I wonder if we are the only two with these end numbers matching if so, it would be that model that is causing the problem.
