Changing out springs on c320 sedan! Shocks?

Hello everyone! I just put some 19" MAEs onto my 2003 c320 sedan. ( I purchased the wheels off a fellow board member, mugen something, thanks again!) They look fantastic. However, the unsightly fender to tire gap is now overwhelming! This must be fixed. Originally I planned to just put some H&R sport springs on, but I thought, wouldn't the stock shocks blow out shortly after? This has always been the case w/ other cars I have lowered. (g35,integra, etc.) Can I get some feedback from the people here who have lowered their car and left the stock shocks on? And anyone else please chime in as well. Thank you!

Warm regards,
Jason

My 1st round of suspension mods, was C32 sways, and Vogtland springs, stock shocks at ~25K miles. Amazing improvement.

Then the shocks went so I got CO's.

In your case with 19" wheels and all, CO's might be the call, since just springs will be hard to get it just right with the wheels.

Thank you for the quick reply. I did notice that the front looks much higher than the rear. I wanted to keep it cost effective, since I am just lowering for the aesthetics, but since I have 110k on the car, it might be a better idea to get coilovers. : ) I would get the tein basics(Or springs and shocks)
I like the koni/H&R combination also. I was looking through some old threads and it said Konis were around 500? I could only find them online for around 700+..... thanks

i believe that someone in the classifieds are selling a H&R/Koni front setup, so if you were to get that yo would only need the rears!

Thanks Mugen. btw, I had RNRs, FG360 steering wheel, and little Mugen pieces here and there for my dc2. Good stuff. I saw that thread, but with the cost of two rear konis in addition to what he is selling, that will be over 800 total. I think I will go with new Tein SS, as I cannot seem to find any that are used. Does anyone know where I can get a set for the best price? Also, after I get the coilovers, I will lower all around so there is a one finger gap all around. Will I need a camber kit, or just an alignment? My concern is tire wear. Also, do I need new spring pads or anything else when getting coilovers installed? Thank you.

nice stuff! i always wanted a DC2 and slap on some MF-10's, but my dad got me the benz instead. oh well, i'm still a JDM nut, lol. you should try k1motorsport, they are a sponsor for hte forum, and many people got their teins from there. as for camber etc, someone with the coilovers should come here and let you know

You will definitely need an alignment after lowering, but chamber kit may or may not be necessary depending on how low you decide to go.

Usually spring pads are removed completely when you install CO.
