Oil Pan Replacement

Oil Pan Replacement
Within the last couple of weeks I started to notice a small amount of oil dripping below my 2001 C320. I took it to the mechanic (German Auto Clinic in Seattle) yesterday and he said it is coming from the upper oil pan. I didn't realize MB had a lower and an upper oil pan. He said it would be 10 hours of labor to replace the silicon gasket on the upper pan as the engine mounts need to be removed to get to the pan. Has anyone else had this issue and has anyone tried to fix it themselves? I do have access to a shop, engine lift, tools, etc so I could do it if necessary.

Yep, you are looking at major work.
I just had my engine mounts done. I'm a huge fan of DIY, but I took it to a buddy in SoCal who is a Mercedes Tech. 10 hours is excessive. Seek out Glassjaw and ask him about how many hours it would take.
Then you can shop this around for a better price. Depending how many miles on the car, get the mounts replaced too. They generally only last 50-65k miles.

A little late on responding but it seems like it wasn't the upper oil pan at all. It was the top cover on the passenger side valve cover. Mercedes doesn't use a gasket on this small piece and I had oil leaking out of the side of it. I took it off and cleaned it up and put it back on with a fresh seal of loctite. No more oil leaking!
