My c230K coupe is sitting at the dealership right now getting that hose campaign thing done. But recently my radio and key reception went to hell. I can't unlock the car unless my key is 2 inches or so from the drivers side door. I told them about these issues when I dropped the pcar off at 11 this morning. The service manager calls me at 530 and tells me that the car is done with the hose replacement but that the radio/key problem is still there. So im like... "whats the issue" and he says that every thing checks out electronicly. He says that he thinks it the tint messing up the **** in the rear window. I called my tint guy and he says that he's sure its not metallic tint. The service manager was like yeah it checks out. And im like, but its still messed up. and he's like yeah. So Im like "so its just going to be broke...??" and he kinda doesnt know what to say. Even though I have an extended warrenty. So i told them that if they take off the tint and it still doesnt work than they can replace the radio/key system. and he said yes. So I told him that if they pull the tint off and it still doesnt work your going too also pay for the tint to get put back on and he fumbles around and is finally like yeah we can do that i guess.. lol.. I haven't heard about that on the c230 coupe's. So what should I do. Im confused why they just dont freaking replace the damn ****. I have an extended warrenty.

Search for rear antenna amplifier. Tinting broke it. I bet radio reception sucks too.

Noreaga0221 is right -- if your remote keyfob does not work at a distance (and you need to be close for the infrared to unlock the doors), your trunk does not respond to the remote, AND your radio reception is shot -- it is the antenna amplifier (combar). Will run you about $1000 to replace.

I have the exact same problem on my 2003 c230 coupe. Is there an aftermarket antenna amplifier that I can install or do I have to get the MB OEM part? If there is an aftermarket part, is there a specific one that I should get?

Mine started acting up 2 days ago. It unlocks just fine but locking is a hit or miss affair. No aftermarket anything done to the car. Think it is just the battery? And b4 anyone asks I lost my spare.
