Urgent help, nanny stuck in her C240

Hey guys,

I purchased our nanny a 2001 C240 a couple of years ago. She's on the side of the road, about an hour from my house, stating that the check engine light is on and the car won't go over 10mph.

I'm assuming this is "limp home mode" but not sure. Anybody else had a similar experience? Before calling a tow truck, I'm wondering if there's anything she can do herself to try to remedy the situation.

Thanks!

Yep, obviously that's the next step. Was just wondering if maybe something like turning the car off for 15-30 mins to allow the car to reset could do the trick. My W211 has so many electronics in it that sometimes this is the fix for little gremlins like that and was hoping that someone with a similar experience might chime in.

Turns out the car stored a code stating that 3 of the 6 cylinders were misfiring. MB dealer wants to replace all 12 plugs for the low low price of 545.00 plus a 180.00 diag fee. Oh, and the water pump is about to blow too. Another 745.00, thank you very much.

Dropping this clunker off at Carmax on Monday morning and getting the nanny a Honda or Hyundai. 10 year 100K mile warranty FTW!

Looks like a Saturn Aura, Pontiac G6 or Chevy Impala is in her future. The deal was, I buy her the car, she pays for maintenance. With a trade in value of about 5 grand () it's just not worth putting in much to keep this car running.

Looks like I have to stroke another check. Oh well, you can't put a price on your kid's safety.

Actually i think thats a good plan... i just got my c230 kompressor not long ago and its been problems since... I had a honda before... i made the mistake of selling it for this car... I want to go back to a honda now!!
