Tires on stock wheels - 205/55 on Front and 225/50 on Rear?
Guys,
First off, I am a long time reader these forums. I have a 2002 Mercedes C240 with stock wheels. The manual says the rims require 205/55R16s or optionally 225/50R16s tires. My tires need replacing and my dad, who is a general manager at a car dealership, has a set of Michelin's that are 205/55R16s in front and 225/50R16 in the rear. He took them off of a Mercedes SLK (I believe) when the lady who bought it demanded new tires. These tires still have well over 60% of their tread left and are free to me.
My question is, is there any reason not to do this? The tires are almost exactly the same circumference, correct? Also, a slightly wider tire on the drive wheels will not hurt, will it?
Thanks in advance,
