Went ahead and activated Sirius...
It was a painless process. The radio tuned in within a minute.
There's a definitely a huge difference in sound quality between various channels. The EQ and compression settings are different as well. Seems like there is different levels of signal gain on the channels as well.
Overall, navigation and use of the SAT radio option on the '05 headunit is very simple - I like being able to get some song info a la RDS for over the air radio.
That's something I wish I had - RDS on the headunit for FM radio.
