About Alarm

I have a question about the alarm of my 05' C240.
Last night, someone tried to break or steal my side mirror.
The problem is I wondering why my alarm did not go off at all? Does it not cover the side mirror part or something is wrong with it?

Thanks for any input guys

There are no sensors installed on the mirrors.

The interior is protected because of the doors. When opened, the alarm will go off. If your windows are open and you reach in, the alarm will not go off unless you have the IMS installed (oem but not in the states).

The other way the alarm will go off is when the alarm is armed and you jack up either the front or the back of the car.

The stock alarm is barely even worthy of being called an alarm.

The W203 doesn't have a glass breakage sensor?

No. It has NO sensors except for the tow sensor. Otherwise the alarm only goes off if a door (or the hood or trunk) is opened.

Is the ML any better?

The Best thing to do is.... Invest in the Interior Motion Sensor "IMS" cost around $200

My ML has a glass breakage sensor not in the way that it trips the alarm through vibrations or impacts when hitting the windows, but by sound.

I can test if it's working by sitting in the ML, locking the doors with the remote, waiting a minute for it to arm, then yell or do something loudly without shaking the car. The alarm will go off if I do it.

That's smart. I can't understand why the W203 does not have this. (does the W204 have it?)

Now we just need someone to order that sensor and see if it can be installed in series with one of the door plungers to set off the alarm.
