Did you do the entire tail or just portions?
I see it more on the bottom.

I'd like to do something with mine too....just got the 2005 tails.
Film would be good, since i don't want to permanently mess them up.

I tinted all the lights, not just pieces. The reason why you see it more on the bottom is because I took the pics with a flash. Should've left it off.
I did make a little border around the lights. I cut the film not at the edge of the lights but about 1/6 inch inside so the red border would be also visible. Just thought I do something original.
But yeah, vinyl film is the way to go.
I had the lights on my Acura TL painted black, then with gloss but they came out too dark and I couldn't go back to original look...

2005 C230 Coupe, Iridium Silver, 17" Rims, Lorinser Roof Spoiler
New To The MBWorld Discussion Forum - Some Questions . . . ?

Wow Dimitry . . . I really like what you've done to your C230 . . . It really ROCKS . . . ! ! !

What product(s) did you use on your car to get such a high finish? Your car really SHINES! :-)

FYI . . . I just bought a used 2005 C230 Coupe, Iridium Silver from a Dealer in Northern NJ. The C230 only has 14,000 miles also came with 17" Rims, Lorinser Rear Roof/Hatch Spoiler and Tinted Glass.

Questions: Where did you buy the Front SL Grills, Clear Side Markers, and Rear Brabus Spoilers? I'm not sure where to look for these customized accessories and who has the best prices.

Any help or advice you could offer is gratefully appreciated.

Thank you very kindly,

~Hal

Hey!
Thanks for the comment!
I just had it washed with wax at a local carwash. I usually wash my car in summer myself when I visit my parents but that day it was chilly outside.
Did you buy the car from a VW dealer?
I know exactly what car you're talking about. I actually saw it in person since I'm like 20 mins drive from that dealer. They initially wanted like 26K for it then dropped it to 23 I think. But it's a beautiful car so CONGRATS!
I got the rear Renntech lip from eBay. I think they still have a few there left. It wasn't too expensive, around 150 or so and the Brabus I got from a guy who sells it on eBay but not by bidding on the auction.
That guy has a black coupe (Advans' car) in his picture. Just type in "w203 coupe" or "c230 coupe" and you'll see his auctions.
As far as gills - also on eBay. They're not more than $50 or so.
The clear sidemarkers came on the car when I purchased it in PA...The only "mod" the car cad. But you could get them on eBay as well
Post pics of your car!

Wait....
Gary, you're getting a 5 series???
I thought you wanted either a 135 or a 335 with 6-speed?
So is the coupe really going?

ordered the e60 535xi over the e90 335xi mainly because the e60 is more pimp!

Hey Dimitry . . . That's the the one! I bought my '05 C230 from Bernardsville VW. It only had 14,088 miles. I got a great deal on it. I was able to get it for $22,500. I think I did very well considering the low miles and equally low price. It is also under warranty.

I've posted the pics that I have from the dealer . . . Let me know what you think. I'm not that crazy about the Iridum Silver as I really wanted a Black C230 and am thinking about having it painted. I really like the way yours looks.

I'll check eBay for the items you mentioned. If you get a chance email me at: Hal.Faden@verizon.net

Looks nice!!!
Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing, why are the headlights from 2002-2004 models?
Nah, trust me, I'd take irridium silver over black any day... I washed my car yesterday, it looked good only for the first 4-5 hours or so, then got dirty again...Plus black doesn't have the metallic look like the silver does...
Any plans for mods?

Qhestion About Headlights and Performance Mods . . . ? ? ?

Hello Advans,

This is my first C230 Coupe. It is definitely a 2005 according to all the paperwork and documentation I have on the car.

I didn’t realize the lights were from a different year. I have the Carfax on the vehicle and it is clean. I wonder why the previous owner or the dealer changed them out . . . ?

FYI . . . I like the last 2 clear headlights in your picture. Can you tell me what type they are and what the differences are? I am wondering if they can be bought on eBay fairly cheaply and whether they are swapped out easily or require professional installation.

Do you also know of any plug-n-play performance modifications that will increase the HP without voiding the warranty? I am open to any and all suggestions you or any of the other posters may have or if there are some websites I should check out.

I really like the car . . . I just wish it had a bit more kick to it.

The gas mileage is pretty good!

Thanks in advance for the advice!

from the picture above... (left to right)

2001-2004.5 (Pre-facelift "frosted" headlights)
2005 (Clear facelift headlights)
2001-2005 (Bi-xenon headlights)

as for "finding them cheap" good luck. Coupe headlights are rare and hard to find, even the frosted ones. If there ARE ones for sale, its usually expensive. Swapping them out is not THAT easy, it requires knowledge of taking the coupe apart!

as for "plug and play" modifications, theres no such thing. nothing is really plug and play. and nothing can "squeeze" hp out. Maybe some sort of high-end intake/exhaust/headers combination can squeeze some HP out, but the gains are not that significant.

as an OG coupe owner with my "oh so stock" c-coupe, you can have my word that there's really nothing much you can do to your coupe.

I guess the cheapest thing you can put on the car is the K&N air filter but that won't add that much hp. Maybe like 3-5 at most.
Remus makes an exhaust, it's rare and hard to find, cause the coupe and sedan mufflers are different.
Also, there are Kleeman headers available. That's going to give you hp but they're too pricey
My advice - just add a few things to it to make it look more ogirinal like rims or Braubs rear kit, Renntech wing and you're good to go. Coupes are rare and 2005 is even rarer that's why a tastefully done coupe is a deffinite head turner

k&n at most gives u 1-2hp max. no way 3-5hp.

Remus coupe exhausts are extremely rare to find, theres only a few c230k specific coupe exhaust out, and maybe myself and a few more with a c320 coupe specific exhaust done.

to look original, probably go ahead and buy a amg front and rear bumper, slap on some c32 brakes, and a set of nicely non-played out wheels.

Where can I get the SL Style Side Vents/Gills. I don't see them listed on eBay. Any suggestions on where to buy them?

Also . . . How much do they usually run?

Thanks!
