2003 C320 4Matic, 2002 C320 Sport (Lemon)
Question Aluminum Trim in '03

Hello everyone,

I currently drive a 2002 C320 Sport which is a lemon and being replaced by an '03 4Matic soon, but my problem is that I really like the aluminum trim that is in my current car, but I know I can't the sport in the 2003's. Is there any way you think that I could get mercedes to order me the '02 trim and install that in the '03? How hard of a task would that for the dealer to do or could I do it myself?

Thanks,

Norm

did you ask the dealer?

1. can you keep the lemon's interior trim?
2. you can order the trim using the older vin number and have it installed (maybe a DIY job)

You can order the trim from the parts department at the dealer but it will not be cheap. Otherwise, you may want to ask MB if they could swap the aluminum trim from your current car with the one in your new car. You will probably also have to pay for one or two hours of labor.

Thanks

Well I haven't really talked with MB about the scenerio in detail yet to see what they would say but I was just curious. Young, that's a good idea. Maybe I could order those part numbers and have them do it for me a lot easier. As for my ride, it's great except for somewhat minor sh**. The sensors don't work or just flat out fail. The day I picked the car up in June of this year, the a/c was sputtering (would turn on full blast after 5 minutes and then after 2 minutes would die), and then eventually died all-together, because of a sensor that took 4 trips to the dealer to get fixed properly. Then it was the driver's side rubber door sill that almost fell off completely and when I would shut the door, half of the rubber would be on the outside of the car. They were able to fix that relatively quickly but I left the car with them for a few days to look it over again for the sensors and the seal problem and they gave me an e-class loaner in the meantime. Then just as of 5 days ago the seal fell off again for the second time and its currently at the dealer for that. The main problem though was the ESP system. That failed more times than I can count on both hands in a matter of having the car 6 months. All in all I think out of the first three months I had the car (June, July, Aug) it was in the shop, or I at least had a complaint 10 of those 12 weeks. They kept replacing just the sensor but after 3 times they replaced the whole unit which still didn't fix the problem. So being that my whole family drives MB's from Mercedes of Greenwich, CT my father had a chat with the service head and the owner of the dealer and they said that they would replace the car. I am only 19 years old but I do love and respect Mercedes (when they work properly) and I would never rice it out like my friend did with his Audi A4 1.8T... took a good looking german car and made it look like jap cr**... oh well. Well I thank you guys for the advice, and I'll post pics of the new one when it comes in.

you can either order the aluminium trim for the C32 AMG or order the trim for the C-class sport pkg. They are the same thing. Just find out the parts number. it should be a easy DIY job.

sorry about what happened to your 02 C320.

Yea... I really liked that car and I wish I could keep it but then is it worth my time and effort to keep repairing some problem that might never be fully corrected. My 03 should be at the dealer within week's end so the headaches will end soon.
