Just replaced SAM, fuel gauge prob. + rear windows
Hello all,
Read the instruction manual AFTER jump starting the car. Learned the hard way NEVER to jump directly from the + battery terminal and - ground.
Anyhow, all works now 'cept the fuel gauge. I'm told this is "coding" issue. My OBDII port scanner reads "P0450" Fuel/Evap sensor malfunction. NO check engine light, checked the gas cap and let the gas tank re-pressurize.
Rear windows. One touch DOWN works, but one touch UP doesn't. Really weird. Is it a Door control module issue?
2001 C320 with 72,000 miles on it: In the past 10,000 miles
Rear SAM (DIY)
Power Steering rack (independent shop)
Drivers Seat control module (DIY)
L+R Catalytic converters (warranty)
Right headlamp Xenon igniter (DIY unglue housing)
HVAC Stepper motor (DIY entire dashboard removal)
I anticipate replacing within next 12 months or so:
water pump
passengers seat control module
shocks
What's up with the byzantine MB parts supply chain? For BMW, I can gather a wealth of info. on the web. Also, BMW replacement parts are much cheaper comparatively than MB parts.
I guess 2001's were lemon's.

The REAR sam does need to be programmed depending on which fuel floats are installed in your car. There was a model year change somewhere around 03 where they went to a newer MAPPS type float. This setting has to be changed in the rear sam. This can only be done at dealer or someone who has a Star Diagnose.
