I think the 05 has a few advantages to the 06 & 07, namely they still used leather inserts in the middle parts of the seats and door trim. I'm not a fan of MB Tex. Another standard feature on the 05 was the rear side air bags. The gas mileage of the 05 is great, however, the M271 (I4) engine had its share of initial problems -- I would make sure all valves were replaced with updated parts and the vent hose recall and airbag recall were performed. Other than the HK Amp issue, the car has been very reliable. Best thing is I'm two payments away from owning it and only have 41K miles on it. I'm hoping it will last another 40K!!!
