tips for recording an exhaust clip?
i tried to record a couple clips of my exhaust, but it sounds horrible when i play it. i had it sitting on a shop chair about 5'ish feet from the back of the car. do i need to sit it off to the side or cover the microphone with a little foam? i guess it could just be the microphone on the camera- but the camera itself is a pretty descent one (for a point and shoot).

no ideas other than to try anothe camera? i wouldn't think i was too close since a lot of the other clips i listened to on youtube had the camera positioned much closer than mine was.
