Windshield Wiper

I have been dring C230 for little over 3 months (3500 Miles) and I only had to use windshield wiper once. Recently we had a big storm came through and I had to use the wildshield wiper for 3 days in a row. One of the windshield wipers metal bar/guide came off. It almost damaged the window. Luckly I caught it and went to the dealer and tech fixed it by pushing the metal bar firmly back into the wiper. Anyone had same problem? And if you have how to fix it? By pushing the metal bar firmly back into wiper would fix the problem?

If it fixed your problem, then obviously that is the way to fix it. This happened to me too last week and I just had the blades replaced. I got it done under warranty since they broke. Normally, you don't get wiper blades under warranty.

The blades are clip-on type onto the wiper arms. I guess the blade came off because the hook on the metal arm was out-of-shape. By pushing firmly the tech tightened the hook so it should fix the problem.

But this doesn't help the noise problem. The blades squeal like crazy! Anybody recommends a better brand for the wiper inserts??

There are hooks on the end, but there is also a metal bar that runs all the way down the wiper blade. Most wiper blades are plastic on top and sturdy with the groove to slide it on. MB blades seem to be all rubber and the metal strip sits in that groove to keep the blade straight and strong.

Without this metal strip, the whole blade is flismy. My problem was the the blade came out of the wiper arm and away from the metal strip. So the end of it just flopped around and the metal arm rubbed the window.

My dealer replaced my noisy blades for free. They are still silent after a couple months.
