Braless & NOT loving it

FYI 4 all:
Decided to acrylic seal my car today. Spent 6 hrs outside washing, claying, scratch removing,& sealing.

Anyway, I took my invisible bra off so I can seal wax the whole car without it...this was yesterday. It has left a nasty embossed outline on the hood.

It also left the adhesive that I have to wipe off with Goo-gone extreme which seemed to have taken the gloss out of the paint. Maybe. It's not as smooth as the rest.

There's a spot where I did not wipe off the goo-gone right away & it ate the paint right down to the primer. Guess I have to get a touch up paint.

Bought the bra on ebay in Nov.'06. Florida sun may have baked the cheap s**t on.

Don't know if it applies to more expensive bras....

Yes rollnnn..I put the bra on myself. It was not hard.
Bought it from this ebay seller: http://stores.ebay.com/Xtremecity
As I remember it,the film was not an exact fit although they claim it to be.

I had to cut some to size & the hood star(if you have one) had to be taken out first.
It has to be perfect on the first try 'coz once on & you try to peel it to adjust..most likely it will not stick as good.

BTW the acrylic seal wax I also bought on ebay worked well.

We had a little drizzle on sunday right after I waxed my car(obviously) and it left some rain spots but it came right off with a cloth. It's like no dirt sticks to it. Don't know how long it will last though...

Makes me wonder if I might have problems later. I bought my C240 CPO, and there was a clear bra already installed on the front, as well as in my door handle wells and on the side mirrors...

What did you think was going to happen when you stuck a big sticker all over your paint?

Goo-gone eats paint, don't do that! Park the car outside in direct sun to get it warm, especially now in summer. You can use a heat gun to soften the plastic (don't burn it just get it warm) but shouldn't be necessar in Florida. This softens the glue bond and slowly peal it back over itself, not straight up as you can remove paint, especially if that panel was repainted. Glue is hard to get off, you can use something like 3M adhesive remover but it's not great for paint, but much safer than Goo-gone or Goof-off though.
