How do I know I've got side door airbags installed on my Coupe's reupholstery job?

How do I know I've got side door airbags installed on my Coupe's reupholstery job?
I was talking to someone the other day who had a niece with a new BMW. I don't quite understand how a new Beemer did not have airbags in it, but for some reason she ordered more airbags for the car...
doesn't matter. When the accident happened, no airbags.
So I was thinking -- I had a MB dealer put in leather on the doors and seats when I bought my 2004 pre face lift Coupe pre-owned in 2006.
How do I know the airbags are in those side panels?
I guess they would be in the steering wheel and dash, as these were untouched. The dealer said that a guy he has used for years on MB upholstery put the leather in... They did an okay job on the seats.
Anyway, is there any way I can double check this? I have the invoice etc.

I am pretty sure the car would be throwing an SRS warning if the airbags were no longer there. The air bag on the steering wheel has the buttons for the radio built in, so you would notice if it was missing.
You can remove the door panels and see if the airbags are still there.

That's interesting because when I first got the car, it WAS throwing an SRS warning and it took it back to them.
Can a dealer manipulate the warnings on a car? Sorry that I am sounding so suspicious but that story about the missing airbags was not pretty.
I will so sue if there is any problem...

Not that I know of. I think they can erase the code, but if the problem isnt fixed the light will back come on. I highly doubt that the dealership stole your airbags, they can get in some serious trouble if they did.

AFAIK, front side airbags are standard on all the w203 c-class cars. Rear side airbags were an option starting 2006 but standard before that time. Not sure about the coupes. I'm not sure if this applies, but look for the "SRS" plastic cover. If they're there, I'm pretty sure you have the airbags.
