Car does not turn on

Hello! I took my car to a repair shop, and they just call me that my only key I have is not starting the car nor opening or closisng. They told me that the battery went dead and after they charged t the key is no t working anymore. I asked them if the red light in the key is working or not and yrs it is working.

I am really worry about because it is a ac230 2002 with no warranty.

What you think guys that could be wrong. If I get more information i will posted and if you have have any specific question let me know.

Thanks

A.have u checked ur owners manual? B.did they disconnect ur battery? C. have they tried the metal key inside your keyfob? D. I think if they disconnected the battery, the key will need to be re-flashed at a MB dealership. Not sure, but I think I got that right...

A.have u checked ur owners manual?

No, I haven't check the owners manual. I call the dealer, but they want me to take the car to the dealer. They di not give me any other option.

B.did they disconnect ur battery?
I went to the body shop and the person did not disconect the battery from the car. He conected a machine direct to the battery without unpluging any wires. He did not used the red conector that is close to the battery. He conected the wires direct to the battery while te baterry was conected to the car. And we check the battery power today and it was @ 12.5 v.

C. have they tried the metal key inside your keyfob?
THe metal key inside the key. Try it in what way? I used it to try to close or open de car but did not fix anything.

D. I think if they disconnected the battery, the key will need to be re-flashed at a MB dealership. Not sure, but I think I got that right...

I was thinking on buying a new key with the plastic chrome but i don't know if that would solve the problem.

right now i have 2 options. First is to buy a new key to see is works. Or take to the dealer to see what happened to it. If you have any other alternative please let me know. I don't want to take my car to the dealer without warranty i feel that is going to be really expensive.

...........

Lights and stereo Cd it is working. what it is not working are the locks(does not close nor open de car) and when I insert the key in the ignition it has a sound like it is locking the key but does not move. It looks like the computer does not respond. Then i introduce in the ignition another mercedes key from another car but it did not even tried to lock it. In the main screen appears only that i have one bulb burned and if I press reset will show me the miles. just that I can't see anything else.

What should I do??

Ahh I almost forgot. I use my cellphone camara in black and white, and I was able to see that the key everytime i am pushing it a little light comes from the key.

why is the car their? did it drive their? i ask this becuase if you drove the car their and it was working fine and they let the battery go dead and could have somehow killed one of the sam's. why do you care if it gose to the dealer? they should pay also do you know why the battery went dead?

1. To be honest, If your key worked when you took it in (obviously it did.) then it is thier problem and at thier cost to fix this for you, as they have caused this fault. You in no way should be worrying my friend, tell them to pull thier fingers out and fix it - WITH THIER OWN CASH.

2. Most likely as the battery has been dead/disconnected then your key and car will have to be programmed together again, this is done using the Diagnostic Socket (OBD) on the vehicle, and if I'm correct in my knowledge I believe only a specialist with the right software and hardware or a MB workshop can do this.
