question about debadging....can I put them back on later?
I know its a retarded question but I was thinking about debadging the car but its a lease so they will have to go back on at some point? How do you remove them and put them back on. I read around and seems like dental floss and hair dryer/heat will work? What do you guys (or OEM) use to put them back on? Thanks.

3-M does make a product used by several OEMs that sticks like black death. You could use that on the original bits, but it would probably take quite a while to get it right on each number or letter. Then you have to space and line them all up properly. Nothing looks worse than lettering that doesn't line up. I have already de-badged my coupe, but if/when I re-badge it (to sell it, perhaps?) I will just buy new badges from MB. JMHO.

white and whiter
Once you take the badge off the 3M adhesive will be useless. You will need to find those 3M adhesive (thin ones) from hardware store or office depot.
I took my V6 kompressor badge off when i first got the car (as you can see in the sig) and i've just recently put them back on. I didn't use the original one because it's too hard to line them up (too many letters). I got them from the dealer for 50 bucks each (for both side). Good thing was i gave them the MB survey, so they did it for free.

You might not have to put it back on when you turn it in at the end of the lease. When you get it inspected, they will probably tell you. If they don't mention it, it shouldn't matter. Or you could just tell them that you'll leave it in the car. Then they at least wouldn't have to buy new ones to rebadge it.

I used a laminated ID card...easy and no scratches. 3M makes two types of double sided tapes, the foamy kind (white) and a rubbery kind (black)... its the black one you want.
hehehe...I've never sent one in... I got a bunch of them sitting in the glove box of my C200 W202 (1997) :p

I thought you said in another thread that you laughed about people debadging their cars, and something about them being embarrassed about what they own? So why now, are you interested in doing it yourself? Have you become ashamed of you car?
