Shift point rpms for C240 6-spd
I've had my C240 6-spd for about 5 months now, and right away, I noticed that the engine likes to rev more than my previous '99 Passat V6 (5-spd) and I'm shifting at higher rpms, especially going into 2nd and 3rd. I was curious what other C240 6-speeders are doing. (Since the C230 is 4-cyl, I'm sure the shift points are going to be different).
Generally, for a normal takeoff, I shift to 2nd at about 3500, sometimes 4000 rpms. 2-3 is also about the same. 3rd is geared lower and I usually go to 4th around 3000. When I test drove a BMW 325i, I also noticed the engine winds higher than the Passat did for "normal driving" shift points.

I tend to shift at, or above, 4000rpm. It could very well be my driving style, but shifts in the middle of the rpm band seem less smooth than shifts higher up in the rpm's.

2001 C240 6spd
It took me a bit to find the right shift points....from what I was used to....and not having a manual for about 7 years....
for daily driving....shift at around 3500-4000RPM....when needed speed is needed...then obviously rev to what is needed.....

Where on the RPM curve is the most torque?? Is the power curve of the supercharged engine like that of a turbo, a maximum torque at a range of say 1950 - 5000 RPM (like my Audi)??
I wasn't too sure because the turbo is powered indirectly by the engine through the enhaust and the SC uses the poer of the engine directly to create boost PSI.
I am inquiring about the C230 K engine BTW.
