Fuel Staging and Octane Levels...
So what is the stock setting for the fuel stage in a 2002 C 240? What is the benefit for changing the setting and I've been noticing that some people have been using 93 Octane? I live in San Diego, CA and I only see 91. I know that there are some places that you can get higher Octane but I also heard that it was bad to use it if you're not going to be using it that much! Anyone?

I was on my way back from the beach a couple months ago, and left my wallet and money in my parents car. I happened to have $8 in the coupe. I HAD to have gas, and the most I could get too. There was a 40cents differece in 93 and 87, and I had to make it home on that $8 worth. So I put 87 octane in. She ran, but she wasnt happy. Idled rough, and seemed to have some timing changed. I made it home and immediatley went and put 10 gallons of 93 and 2 gallns of 100 in it to make her happy again.

A guy I know has a 2000 C230 sedan. He put in regular gas one time and the car ran fine. So he has continued this for a year or two now. He says the car runs just the same as with premium gas.
