SCREW THIS!!!

Hey Y'all,
Got a new HU installed. I think the installer pulled the air vent out without taking out the screws...It is loose and just pops out.Grrrrr!!
He mentioned that it took him a while to remove the vents & he didn't know that it just pops out. He also found 2 screws & asked me if someone was messing around around with it before.

I know it's a torx but can anyone tell the the size of the screw I need?

Also went to the post entitled"Audio 10 Install Pics / Instructions" but the pics would not come up. Is it just me??

Thanks guys.

That Sucks...I would go back and tell the installer to buy a new vent assembly (not cheap $$), he obviously had no idea what he was doing or this was his first benz. I purchased a 05 C230k and found that the previous owner tried a DIY HU and did the same to the vent, luckily I was able to work with the SA at the dealership and get a new one thru warranty. Good Luck...There is a great pic post of how to remove properly bring this with you when you talk to the audio shop.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Go to the C320 AMG coupe ala mod thread for the 3 servers needed to be logged into to get all the pics to show up.
I have a hard copy with pics if it doesn't work. You can Paypal me a small amount to cover copies and postage.
It's T10 or T15 I forget.

You need a Torx TX20 driver when removing the screws so it must be TX20 screws

Installer works with or covering for my jailed mechanic so I assumed he knew what he was doing.
Initially I was there for a cupkit install estimate; when I told him i'll do my HU install before the cupkit, he said he can do it for me for $80 HU + $80 Subs/Amp
After getting a $600 estimate from Circuit city I jumped to the chance.
He actually charged me $150 for HU only since he had a hard time taking the OEM HU out.
He did not even know where to tap for power. He had to call a friend of his.

Anyway it's done now & I'm not going back for my sub install.

A few instances when playing the HU I hear a "morse code-like" sound.

Any ideas what it is?

Installer said he tapped into one of the fuses under the hood.

YOU DA MAN, DRAD.

Hope no parts are broken. The right vent seems to be snug but the left one is very loose even the trim around the vent.
