special order ?

i got my benz in sept. 2002, and when i got it, the dealer told me that under "optional equipment", the $1,150 is for SPC-Special Paint Coat. he said something about it being a paint protectant thing (something that just protects the car paint from acid rain, turds, bugs, etc).

i was just wondering, with winter and all making my capri blue benz all white from the salt and dust, do i have to follow a certain protocal in washing the car to avoid washing off the $1,150 SPC? or can SPC be even washed off? or just can someone tell me what SPC really is?

The color you ordered was not standard for 02, that is what the extra charge was, for it has the same finish as all other clear coat Mercedes.

That's hilarious. I wonder if that is really what your dealer thinks SPC means. You would think an MB dealer would be more knowledgeable than that on their products. Yeah, that's a special order charge for the color that you got.

SPC means "sucker punch customer" by charging him outrageous prices for paint.

That's why I got why white. No SPC and no metallic. Well, that's not really the reason. I wanted white. But that is an outrageous price for paint. But you have no choice.

"sucker punch customer" or "Special Paint Coat", either way the numbers just the same. nothing against white, but its just not for me!!

maybe he bought it off the lot and the dealer didnt want to explain to him what the special order charge was for if he didnt special order the car. that way they could get the car off the lot and the money in their pocket! assuming he didnt order the car. otherwise his salesman is really out there!!!
