Check this thing out, this is the shifter from neither the Manual 6 sp transmission nor the 5 speed auto transmission that lets you KINDA shift if you put it in touchshift mode. This is the 6 speed SEQUENTRONIC clutchless manual available for coupes in Europe. When will they offer this in America? It is freaking cool!

Honestly, I don't know exactly how Sequentronic works, but you can go to a web search engine type in Sequentronic and find more info than you know what to do with. What I do know is that it's a completely clutchless manual and is NOT in any way similar to the gimmicky semi-manual touchshift automatic, which is standard on the auto. The sequentronic is 6 sp and not 5 like the auto. I also understand it costs halfway between a manual (which is free) and automatic.

ok, but with the real manual i put it in gear when parked (which is also recommended in the manual). How does one do it with the sequentronic?

Another thought about sequentronic...
It does seem cool. Anyone drive one? Here's a couple of questions. Do you drive it like a manual, that is, lift off the throttle during shifts? Also, what about multi-gear shifts? For example, I usually do a 4-2 or 5-3 downshift when slowing for a turn -- I don't go sequentially down through each gear. Is sequentronic sufficiently sophisticated to be able to "skip" a gear if tapped quickly in succession?

Out Of Control!!
When I lived in Germany I drove a MB Truck once that had similar shifting. That is, no clutch, with a touch shift. You would push forward (if I remember correctly) to shift up, and back to shift down through ten gears. You could skip gears by pushing twice or more both up (for light loads) or down. I only drove it once as I normally drove a Scania. I'm sure this is different as this was back in 1990, but maybe the principle is the same.
