170k miles and I'm thrilled
So, today I did some PM and had a chance to inspect the cylinder head. It is prelimanry, but what I saw looked great. I can still see the stock brushing on the cam circles.
I was amazed at what I saw. I would have thought with that many miles that I would see huge and apparent wear patterns, no........It looks great. This from a background of three different engine types. I have been into the bowels of Chevy 350, Acura non vtec, and 70s era SOHC Fiat motors. I have never seen this kind of mileage and this little wear?
I'm replacing spark plug seals and the valve cover gasket, so full photos to follow of the top end of the engine to follow.
Glyn R, I don't care for what you have to say, so STFU!

I'm on cloud 9 I tell ya. I'm running Mobile One 229.5 spec with the fleece filters. Oil changes on my M111 motor at between 10-12.5k miles over the life. I also have a Kleeman pulley, so I get on it every so often.
The Mobile One is 0-40w.

didn't know you have that many miles on the coupey ED. glad everything's in tip-top shape.
we have a 97 528i with 160k miles and the cylinder 6 is losing compression. rough idle, but still works. car's worth about $1500-2000 LOL. my cousin's hubby's 98 Civic coupe was worth more and he just sold it for $3100.

synthetic oil- FTW![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
when i tore into the SBC LT1 engine that i was building to put in my drag truck (S10)- it had 183k on it and looked just like you are describing- perfect. if it wasn't for the fact i was building a stroker, i would have just left it alone. the previous owner of the engine said he used Mobile 1 from day one, which is what Chevy specs for the engines.

What, no pics E?
Your care is a testament to proper maintenance and of course good old Mobil 1. I hope to make it up to that mileage and beyond. Just passed 35K yesterday.
