Where to get spark plug wires?
Ok, the car has been shaking while driving every once in a while and the CEL comes up and sometimes goes away. I went to autozone and the came up with 0301/0303/0304 cylinder misfires/random detonation (I think thats what it said). The guy says its the spark plug wires.
The car has 101k miles now. Do they normally go about now? Now the question is where to get the wire set since the Bosch ones are like $180. There are generic ones from $60 but the autozone guy says that the ones he has likely wont fit. Is there a place I can get ones that fit properly for a good price?

before i just start throwing parts at it- search those fault codes on here as well as google (or something of the sort). i would double check the diagnosis of a 'zone employee before i started buying parts- just to be sure.
if it does need wires- i would go with OEM or at least a good aftermarket name (nothing the 'zone carries). i'm not sure of MB's suggested replacement on wires- but 100k is, in my opinion, about time to replace wires.

I have no idea if they will fit, since I don't know all too much about interchangeable Mercedes parts. But, in the crotch rocket and small block chevy camps that I come from- buying used plug wires is like buying a used condom....

Does your car have a mechanical distributor? Those E class wires look rather long. The wires on my car are very short because there is a coil for each cylinder. At 101K, your plugs should be changed. Pull some of the boys out and have a look. They might be the bad actor. Random detonation can be caused by a carbon build up in the cylinder. A bottle or two of Chevron Techroline might help that.

ok will remove the wires to inspect them. also going to check the spark plugs. anyone know what socket size the spark plugs are? I ready the DIY but it uses the "official" Mercedes spark plug socket.
I have a coil for each cylinder and those wires look pretty long in the picture. BTW, they are new despite looking dirty in the pictures
