i am trying to paint the center of my rims black. i was wondering if anyone out there can give me some tips on how to tape off the rivets that are on my replica rims.

If they are replica rims they are most likely 1 piece rims, therefore unless you've had extensive experience painting rims (which from the sound of your question, I'm assuming you don't), I'd suggest going to a wheel shop to find out how much it would be to have them do it (if it can even be done). If these were 2 piece or 3 piece rims, it'd be a lot more simple. In this case, with a 1 piece rim, it may be very difficult (but better them doing it than you attempting and messing up).

if they're one piece with a three piece look then you have no choice but to paint the whole center with the rivets. i think it's ridiculous to tape of small rivets. if it's a true multi piece wheel then that's no problem because you take the face off.
