C230k OWNERS....

Would you have waited if you knew the c320 coupe was coming out? This includes price adjustments and other real life factors.

As for me, im pretty sure i would have waited for the manual version of the 320 sedan if i knew.

2003 MB C230 coupe
i consider all the options that i got on my coupe to be necessary (meaning i love them all) and i just can't afford to add any more cost and i don't wanna lose any options so i guess i wouldn't have gotten the C320 coupe.

now, if i had the money, duh of course i would have gotten the C320 coupy. i'm not gonna make any excuses to make my I-4 coupe look better to hide my jealousy such as: i like the supercharger sound or i like the Kompressor badging on the back. V6 is just the better way to go in the end. but i have a supercharged I-4 and oh well, i love my car!!

I probably would have gotten a C320 Coupe if it had existed 18 months ago, but more likely I'd have bought a C230K sport sedan if they had been available as 2002 models.

I'm happy with the 2002 with the M111 motor. I'll probably do some mods eventually (when the warranty period is over) and I think that extra power can be rung more easily out of this motor than either the M271 or M113.

Cheers, BT

I wouldn't have gotten the C320 Coupe. If I was going to get a coupe in the $40k+ CDN range, I would've gotten the 325CI. To be fair, I wanted a 2 door German car, and my parents were nice enough to be willing to buy me any car under $40k pre-tax, and the only choice was the C230 coupe. Well, it's not even my money, so I'm not going to complain!

However, if I knew there was a C230k sedan coming out, that would be different, since it's $40k with the sport package which is nice. And I got kind of bored of the novelty of 2 doors; it's a pain to get in and out when there's more than 2 people.

if the two existed at same time I think so...considering the cost is minimal diff and it comes with leather insert seats (and probably more?) is a big plus.

I wouldn't have waited. 23 more horsepower is not worth the few thousand extra that I could just as easily spend on options on my 2.3L coupe.

For the budget I had, I would have gotten the C5 and C7, I don't mind getting the supercharged 4 banger. I kinda think it's neat..."the little engine that could"

Now if the question was the C230 Sedan...Hell Yeah! Need the extra 2 doors badly (Just had a baby 4 months ago!)

I think, according to what I have read, that with my options the C320 is now the same price? If it is I still might not have jumped to the 320 because we have an '02 C320 and it has horrible pickup, I am very happy with the 1.8.

I don't think I would have waited a over a year, but I will be jealous as they show up and will therefore probably consider the upgrade depending on how much my dealer wants to rape me in the process. Based on the tax advantage and the ease factor I think I would definitely want to go the trade in route. I think its well worth the ~2k for the upgrade if I were buying the coupe now and it would clearly be a no brainer for me.

I wouldn't have waited at all. If I had a choice today between the '02 C230 and the C320C, I would still pick the 230. With a simple pulley, it is more powerful than the 320. So since the only real advantage is the extra hp, it is not worth the added cost. However, I may have picked it over the 1.8L due to lack of mods.

C320

Saw a new C320 coupe at the LA Auto show. Price: $33 thousand with auto, C7 and leather....
Could not detect any other changes other than the C320 badge on the hatch....

I'm not sure what states this doesn't apply to but I know that the value of your trade is subtracted from the purchase price price of the new vehicle, and then the sales tax is applied. Cool huh? Check it out its for real- (but like I said maybe not in all locales.) So if the value of your trade is significant, unless the dealer really low ***** you, it may be a better deal as you could be talking over a 1K tax savings that you would otherwise forfeit by selling privately. I don't know why, but it seems to be a "little known fact." If anyone disagrees or knows otherwise, please let me know, but this was how I understood it.

i would of got the c320 of the 230,and i have a few mods on mine(pulley, intercooler)its just a kick *** engine, think about it its int the C,E,CLK,SLK,ML,and at one point it was in the almight S.this is one of the best engines i think MB has ever made, super torque, and excellant hp,and the coupe is the lightest of the bunch, not by much but it counts for something

No, because its a heavier motor ~100 lbs more than the 4 banger which will alter the handling characteristcs to a more nose heavy coupe and I mind as well wait for the C32 coupe which is a possibility for '04.

The C320 coupe is such a disappointment. I know many of you here are fans of the 230, but I personally can't stand the way it looks from the back. I was hoping the C320 coupe would look like the sedan, minus the 2 back doors. Instead, they make it look like the lower-end 230.

Did I mention that the above is just my own personal opinion?

Not gonna happen. It's only available as a special car from AMG, which means it isn't even widely available in Europe. So it surely will not be coming to the US. The other cars listed as special AMG cars right now are the S63 and CL63. Past special cars included the SL73. None of these cars will ever make it to the US.

um, that makes no sense... you might as well say that the c320 sedan should look different from the lower end c240 sedan.

why would mb introduce another body style w/ the c320 sportcoupe?

They've got enough body styles as it is. They should get rid of some. And even though I like the way the coupe looks, when I first saw the new CLK, I said "That should be the C-coupe." It just looked so small for a CLK, especially from the front.

To me, the 230 has always been different from the 240/320. They don't even look alike. Was hoping for the 240/320 body style, minus the 2 doors. Kinda like a BMW 330i vs. 330ci. To me, the 230 has always been a hatchback. Hatchbacks and coupes aren't the same.

For me the only reason to get the C320 over the C230 is the possibility of leather inserts, but for an extra $4 CND I wouldn't get it, I like the gas mileage I get now, and the pulley/intercooler option sounds like a much cheaper and easier way to get the same performance numbers (actually better numbers as some post here) as the C320 for less $$$.

No the C230 sedan I may have waited for, I am still not impressed with the styling, for the sport model they should change the grill to the sport grill (aka C230 sports coupe) and flat hood badge, but even then, its still a sedan and the styling isn't aggressive enough for me...

What made my original decision was 2 things:
1. Pulling up behind a C240 in the dark and thinking it was a Protoge until I passed it;
2. Pulling into the dealership an not being able to tell right away the difference between a CLK, SL, and C230K from a fast glance at the front ends cause they share the same aggressively sloped grill and headlight pattern.
