Ok before I explain what differences I feel, I should note that I had a 98 SLK which is essentially the same engine in the 02 Coupes...M111 (I think it even had the same engine #) and I wasn't happy with it. I will be the first to admit it was more powerful then the 271 but it wasn't as refined, if that's the word im looking for. It was rougher. Hard to put into words.
Anyway, this upgrade I believe puts it in the same realm as the 111's power. Unlike adding nitrous (I've done that in another car) the power is felt for the whole band from lower RPMs all the way up to redline.
I noticed that redline seems to come up a lot quicker, I wasn't paying attention at one point and I hit the limiter before I knew it. I also noticed that she doesn't bleed speed as quickly. By this I mean, when you are at a certain speed, let's say 60mph, and you let go of the throttle, the time it takes for the speed to drop and how quickly it drops. This has certainly changed...it holds the speed for longer and drops speed slower. This is good, but bad if you're used to the way your car drives. I can usually guess when I need to let go in order to not get to close to a person on the highway but I noticed myself having to brake at the last minute...it happened so often that it must be the upgrade, I didn't forget how to drive the coupe overnight. On the ride home I had already compensated for the difference and now it's fine.
I think I feel the most significant change in the torque...the car pulls hard. I can get esp to turn on going straight...and not trying to drop the clutch either...just aggressive driving. I could never do this before, and I have brand new tires. I can also fishtail the car very easily (maybe too easily) when making a turn from a stop (like you would at a red light). Again, I could only do this before when my tires were worn, but now I can do it anytime I want.
My onboard accelerometer (sp?) now measures a 1-1.1ish G where as before I was closer to .75 G...so I am accelerating at a higher rate. Now I was about to hit around 1G before, but that was only at the track during really harsh driving, but never during everyday driving. I assume if I took it to the track now I could most likely hit 1.2 or higher.
As I've been told the headers give it just as much of an increase as the pulley kit does...that is where the car should really shine and I can't wait for the part to arrive. Between these two upgrades and the larger intercooler I just got, I think the coupe will finally become more of a sports coupe and less of a plain coupe.
Oh, for those wondering, so far I haven't seen a significant change in the MPG area...I'm about the same, 26-8 city, 30-32 highway.
Feel free to ask any questions. The mount for the video camera should be here in about 8 days, not sure how much longer for the headers.

Did you let yayo near your car?

Went to MotorWerks today to drop off a part to get painted:

And I found out that my headers were in:

The install will take place on Monday the 13th, I'll post pics and videos and hopefully a dyno.
