is it better to have something to wrap around the tube to protect the heat from the engine since the tube is an aluminum???

With these tubes does the front engine cover no longer fit because it is not in the picture?

3" Aluminum Piping bent just a little charging 110$ amazing deal! Im not hating or anything just throwing it out there.. Don't think you would get 7 RWHP on this.

Also another pointer

( When coupled with K&N Air Filters we saw a 7RWHP gain on a 2002 C240! )

Yea no disrespect, but I can't see how you could gain 7 rwhp from this mod. The stock intake and filters seem to be VERY well designed as far as being nonrestrictive. And this only replaces the stock tubes which are nearly the same size and not made of heat conducting metal!!!

3 things:

1 - $110 for slightly bent aluminum tubing seems a bit unreasonable

2 + The heat conduction of aluminum versus insulation of the plastic tubing is not much of an issue. Either way you're going to reach about the same steady state temperature rather quickly and given that most CAI systems use aluminum or SS tubing, I wouldn't be too worried about that.

3 + That they are the same diameter isn't really the issue here, rather the fluid dynamics of the flow through the tube. The ribbing/accordion texture creates a more turbulent boundary layer that will restrict the flow more than a smooth tube.

hey ANTHONY, you know about me using the Carbon Kevlar tubes for the C320s, they work about the same way, AND they dont heat up at all.

The engine cover does fit, its just not in the pic.

As for the Kevlar pieces, they don't fit quite right on the sedan I guess. Wavey pointed that out to me.

it doesn't but you can alter them to fit with a silicon coupler, it cost like 1/2 the price.

question is, does the tubes heat up after a 1 hr drive. since it IS metal.

After about 45 mins and 7 dyno pulls the tubes were still cool to the touch.

Where did you get these Kevlar tubes from. I have a sedan but if it only takes a 1/2 inch silicon adapter then why not. I like the look of the Kevlar tubes but I also like the metal tubing also. Just want different options to choose from.

Stock C350 intake tubes is what he used. About 42.00 each from the dealer.

Total cost with Silicone Couplers and clamps is around $94.00.

Hmmm looks like I may just buy both and play around with which one I like more and keep the other as a backup. If the guy from another thread saying he can get a renntech airbox for $600 is telling the truth I will be buying that also

MB Pricing lists them at 42.00 each, silicone couplers are about 5.00 each and good clamps are near 3.00 each. If you use cheaper silicone and clamps you can save some money, but where are you getting the tubes for cheaper?

That's a pic of the tubes. It is not CF/Kevlar, but more of a sound suppression Kevlar type material. It looks like cloth wrapped over a spring with black rubber on the outside of it.

I think you are thinking that it is a smooth CF piece, which it isn't. It's hard to describe. I'll try and get some detailed pics up soon.

I was thinking it was smooth like the cf air box but I guess not. A question with your modified intake tubes, since you do not provide the K&N air filters what type of HP gains will there be, minimal? I have green filters already so I will get gains with it regardless.

Realistically, you will gain 2-3 extra HP with just the tubes. The biggest advantage to them is that they are smooth flowing and 3" all the way back. The stock piping starts big and then necks down to 2" and back up to 3", all the while having a non-smooth flow environment.

We do offer the KN filters with the tubes, link is in the first post.
