2002 C230 : 2007 C230
That 200lbs will not even be noticable. It would be no different than having someone in the passenger seat.

By that thinking, the fastest of the non-AMG C-class cars would be the C230 Sport Sedan. It's lighter than the C230 SC.

r u sure aboutt the C230sedan lighter than C230 coupe? r u comparing 2.3L to 1.8L version? I think the 2.3L is about 3300lbs. One amazing thing about Mercedes is that there is less than 50lbs diff between manual and auto tranny btwn C230coupe....thats amazing considering my audi a4 auto is almost 200lbs more than the manual version (and of course quattro is another 200lbs over FWD)....how much does MB AWD weigh?

That's what page 44 of the 2003 C-class brochure states.

Curb Weight (manual/auto):
C230 Coupe - 3,250/3,280
C230 Sedan - 3,185/3,230

Posted acceleration times show that the 180 lb weight difference is no advantage.

100 lbs = .1 sec of ET in a standing 1/4 mile in that weight of a vehicle all else being equal. You may not think it, but it is a noticeable difference.

of course it makes a difference why are people always trying to shave off the slightest weight, like a carbon fiber hood, which saves roughly 50lbs,so they have faster 0-60 and1/4 mile times every fraction of a second counts

This is an apple vs. orange discussion...different hp/weight ratios between models can only be compared by using acceleration tests...and the 320 wins.

And if if's and butt's were candy and nuts we'd have a fine Christmas. You didn't mention mods in your original message. I believe the question is does the weight difference between the two models make a difference? The answer is no, the 320 is faster. I doubt a pulley on a 230 makes it faster than a 320 anyway...what's your point of reference/facts?

A manual 230 is almost as fast as a 320 even without a pulley. I ran a 6.8 0-60 and 15.19 1/4 when my car was stock. But it was with Gtech pro, so there could be some error. Still about equal to a 320 though.

no point on that, yes stock 320 is no doubt stronger and faster than a 230,no question there, but when it came down to weight and dividing weight to hp ratio factor, does the ilbs make a difference and you already answered that thanks, and back to my pulley in my coupe, which is a auto,it is faster than my brother-in-laws c320,we dragged it numerous times from light to light, and i get him everytime
