99 c230k water, water everywhere.

1999 Mercedes Benz C230 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 93300 miles

My battery died completely and I had it replaced.

Since then my a/c-heater fan quit working and the drivers side window works only on holding down the button. All other windows work fine.

When it rains the passengers side back floor is getting very wet and only in that area.

I tried checking the sky light and the trunk but they look good.

I have no idea as to where the water is coming from but the radiator water is good so it doesn't seem to be coming from the heater.

A mechanic friend who doesn't work on Mercedes said that he couldn't find the leak either but he was sure that a Mercedes tech would have no problem finding the faulty leak.

Also we checked fuses.

TIA
Ray

On a side note, there is a problem that you have to be careful about replacing the batteries. They can blow out your rear sam. Also they can un sync your windows, which sounds like what happened to you. You can STFF for the thread regarding this, but from what i gathered your window issue is self-fixable:

On your outer handle of your driver door, there is an infrared receiver (looks like a dark square near the key hole).
If you point the end of your key at that and hold down the lock button, it will roll up all of the windows. If you do the same with the unlock button, it will roll all of them down.
If i remember correctly, if you hold the lock button down and let all of the windows roll up, then hold it there for an extra 10 to 15 seconds, it should reset your windows sync which should take care of your window problem.

I would suggest searching the forum for the thread regarding this if that doesn't work.

Check the condition of your seals around the passenger side door. There is also a chance, though slim that the rain is seeping in from a bad trunk seal.

Ohh and you may have better luck putting your questions in the W202 forum.

Thanks guys. I tried using the interior buttons to raise and lower the window. it didn't seem to make a difference. But I have not tried to use the remote as suggested and so will try it later this week.

The back passenger side floor is all that is wet and it is soaked. My friend and I looked water coming in at the trunk area and the gaskets for the trunk and window to see if the runner might be bad but it looks OK. Also, checked out the sky light rubber also. It all looks good and the funny thing is -that if water was running down the side and into the foot area it should be wet also but it isn't. It is just wet in the very bottom or the floor area with about 1/4" - 1/2" of water.

A real mystery.

The blower motor not coming on is probably due to the battery swap but can't be sure.

I do appreciate your suggestion.

I think that I got the windows to work by using the remote near the door, as Billbugger suggested. I was amazed that it could be so easy. Thanks Bill, er, Brain, er, Brian. lol

My big problem now is the water. Thinking about getting a boat for it.

Some one mentioned a clogged drain somewhere around the pass. side wiper blade but I went out to look and I am not certain as to how or where to find the drain.

I am too cheap to buy a book. Any one got a pdf or ??? regarding this?

Ok, so I broke down and bought a CD off of ebay for a total of $9.98, including shipping, from brakedust5. It arrived today.

I haven't checked it out completely but the wiring diagrams and parts and parts locations look very good. Even has a TSB section.

This 2 CD set seems to cover quite a few Mercedes. 1983 to 2000.

Called: Mercedes Service and Repair Manual

For $10 I don't think it can be gotten any cheaper.
