Command question!
Hi, I'm new at this forum. I recently got my car a month and a half ago and was wondering if the Command option can be added after the fact at the dealer. The reason is that I really don't care for the changer. I find it uncomfortable for me in the the location (glovebox) and also the constant changing of CD's and feel that the Command's single disc is easier for me as in my previous car (Audi). Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This topic (Adding COMAND after delivery) has been debated before. The simple answer is that ANYTHING is possible, time and money permitting. However, the cost of adding COMAND when it was not originally a factory option would be way too costly (lost of parts, wire harnesses, etc); Not only from a equipment standpoint, but also from a labor standpoint. Also, most of the interior needs to be removed in order to facilitate such an addition. Richard from the UK is pretty familiar with the installtion procedures and can shed even more light on this.

The European frequency intervals are wrong [our stations are .9 apart, ie 94.9, 95.8, 96.7 etc], and for some other reason [I dont understand RF electronics] you get a very tinny sound if you use a European FM radio in USA.
The original Becker radios have a software setting to allow them to switch between US and Europe settings, and it may bee that the European MB single slot CD players (Audio-10-CD) can be told by the star-diagnosis system at the dealer that they are in USA - (they are made by Becker) but thats a rather expensive mistake if they dont !

One other option would be to just buy a portable GPS with the mapping feature and put it in the car when you actually need it. A good one with color screen like the Garmin Map176 runs about $600. I'm going that rought, since I use it on my boat most of the time.
Just a thought.
