Lease end

I'm finally done with the lease on my 2006 230. Anyone else been through the pre-lease end turn in inspection that can give me an idea of what they will look at and what to expect? I'm scheduled for the inspection later this week and the lease return is in January. One thing in my favor is I'm way under on mileage. A perk of living in the city is I never have to drive. Thanks. i had my inspection done last month thru a third-party contracted by MBFS. he just took pictures and visually inspect it. even had my aftermarket wheels & taillights, and didn't even mentioned them in the report.

here's the report i've received. maybe you'll get some idea of what they're looking for. good luck!

From a buddy that is a fleet manager and when my wife took in our off lease 325, women tend to get more lenient assesments than men. Something to keep in mind if you have lots of wear and tear.

READ YOUR CONTRACT! If you are WAY under miles and YOU ARE NOT buying the car - you maybe entitled to a REFUND...

Also you should get a "First Class Finish Packet" and I think you can go to www.mbusa.com to watch videos on inspections...Basically I think anything that can be "hidden" or covered by a credit card is exempt...

Good luck,
Jake

- OH and they can charge you for the Operator's Manual - it MUST be included with the return...

I think I'll be ok then. Both keys, manual and everything else that came with the car is still there, and I have absolutely no flaws on the car of any kind It has been garaged since I backed it off the showroom floor in 2005. No chips, stains or anything else of the sort. I reviewed the contract and it didn't say anything about being under mileage, just mentions the penalties for being over. I do wish I could have my wife do this for me but she's busy with kids all day and they are coming to my office to do the inspection. I'll post up when it is done.

BTW, I read your report and it says your mileage was 16K? But it lists that same figure as the amount over in the next line. Was that your total mileage or what? If so you drive even less than I do...

it's actually 13K for 3 years. i don't drive much. unfortunately, 10K is the minimum they offered for a lease.

I use it once a day on weekdays so it gets about 10 miles put on it per week total. I walk to work since it is only a half mile. During my lunch I walk home from work and use the benz to drive my 4 year old to pre-school, then return back home to put the car back up, then walk back to work. Takes about 25 minutes, no big deal and I enjoy the exercise. My wife picks him up from school in the afternoon while I'm still at work but she drives the bimmer. The benz doesn't move on weekends and normally isn't driven for anything else during the week. I have 2 other cars if I need to travel.

Well I had my lease end inspection today and everything went well. No issues except one that he didn't even put on the report. He crawled under the front bumper and said it had scratches under it, but he said it wasn't a big deal and didn't note it in his report. Overall it was simple and quick. One more month and the 230 is history!
