winter tires 225/50 R17 for c230

winter tires 225/50 R17 for c230

can i put 225/50/r17 tires on my 2007 c230? mb dealer suggested to put all four 225/45 winter for $900, but friend of mine offered new set of 225/50/17. difference in diameter is about 1cm (0.4 in). tire dealer said it will be no problem. what do you think?

The diameter is 0.9" (inches not cm) too large which is about 3.5% too tall. I'd say you were pushing your luck, but it may work.

thanks. i correct myself - increase in radius is appr. 1 cm, not in diameter. diameter will increase to appr. 2.2 cm (0.9 in), but the car will go taller only 1 cm, as it rides on one side. i think i ll take my chances. will post

got them on, it worked! i m not sure if a larger tire will fit - but these ones fit just fine. car drives great. i ll post if there are any problems...
