Esp Off!
About a year ago before I installed the Kleemman Pulley Kit I decided to test the car without ESP on. Outside temp was 55F. I slammed the clutch at 2500 RPM and proceeded to turn the wheel to complete a 90 degree left turn. It had the noticeable rear end swing but it recovered fairly quick and overall not scary, Just one swing and then it straightened itself out.
Today for some reason, boredom I guess, I decided to try the same thing. The conditions outside where slightly different 24F and of course now I have a pulley. I have 21000 miles on my coupe and have had the pulley for about 14000. Well the net result was actually more than I expected
. She pulls hard enough now that if you don't counteract soon enough you will find yourself doing the see-saw pretty quickly. Needless to say ESP stays on all the time.
Just thought I'd share for those of you who have not pushed your coupe ***** to the walls. How many of you have pushed your coupe?

I did a similar test in the snow and I have a pulley too. I thought it was very easy to get into a spin and just drive right out of it by steering the opposite way, without lifting the throttle.

You do some pretty strange things when you get bored. I hope you can manage to keep your car off the sidewalk next time you have nothing to do.

Burn out with the Courtesy Car... lol
1.8L Courtesy Coupe Burnout
I've done a few nice burnouts (well not exactly burnouts, just nice peelouts that lasted all the way through first gear) with my coupe, and I've gotten WAAAAY loose a few times, but the car handles well and is pretty easy to recover. Sorry I dont have any sweet videos.

Yo eason, can you PM me or reply on what you did to accomplish that burnout. I wasn't able to (maybe because it was pouring outside) but regardless can you provide step-by-step?

Now, if you were posting on the topic, I'd expect it go like this:
You want to go complain to the MB service dept that your tech didn't know how to do a proper burnout in a C-Coupe?
Yesssss, I'm being sarcastic.
Cheers!
BTW, Eason, Nice brake stand. Any rubber left on the tires when you got back
Thanks guys.. The courtesy car only have less then 800km when I got the tire, so the tires are very new..
The burnout is acutally harder than I though, because the ECU can sense the rear wheels are spinning even with ESP off. Here is how I do it.
1) Turn off ESP.
2)Step on brake with left foot while giving gas with right foot.
(you will feel the rear wheels starts to spin)
3)Here is the important point, when the tires spins to a certain, the ECU will starts to cut the power, then you have to release the brake a little bit. When the ECU senses the front wheel is moving, it will give back the full power. At this point, hold the brake again and smoke will starts to built up... Hope this help...lol

Haha... Got another courtesy car today, except this time is a C320 Wagon... Burning out in a C320 is way easier then in a 1.8L Coupe.

I've been sending these "burnout" video links to the Service Manager at M-B in Richmond Auto Mall.
That's OK with you, isn't it?
