i have same sound, and can narrow it down further: it occurs between 1200 and 1500 rpm, most easily heard in 2nd gear, but can be heard in 1st as well, haven't listened in other gears. i'm taking my car in for service a sometime this week and am gonna have them check this out. i'll keep you updated as to if they find anything.

From the outside of my car, my ticks at idle.... it doesnt settle anymore... but its quiet on the inside.
Im not sure (perhaps im just paranoid) I havent heard another persons engine in a while. I will go to the dealer on thursday and double check.

ok, the sound when you push or let off the throttle, between 1200 and 2000 rpm, is a sound all 2.3k engines make. i had a loaner and listened to two others when i went for my service A. they all make the sound. mechanic confirmed it's just a characteristic sound of theirs. nothing to worry about.

are you sure? because i have a c240 and it makes the same sound. i was thinking it has to do with the heater because it never did it to me for the last 8 months (warm weather). now that its cold, the sound comes on.
