On top of all that, since I was being screwed and charged an hour labor, I asked them to enable the lock / unlock beeps. I provided a printout with step by step instructions on how to do it (it's 3 or 4 clicks of the mouse). I was told they could not do it and have no idea how. They are a complete waste.
wow you dealer is cheap indeed...i got free floor mats for bringing in my neighbor who bought a bluetec. they also gave me an up to date nav dvd when i bought my wife car from them

Seriously, no legitimate dealer should request your old “lost” key to sell you a new one.
When you’ve located it once again, it’ll be your spare, no?

Damn pleased I pick up a new one for >$100. Unfortunately, such is not the case these days.
As much as I agree that the dealer is a huge rip off, you are totally missing the point. The reason for deactivating a lost key is so that if someone should find it they cannot use it to steal your car. To do this the dealer plugs their laptop running SDS software into the ODB II port. They simply deactivate that key within the cars EIS. It's a few clicks of a mouse.

yeah...a lot of times they'll match the other dealers pricing..just say fletcher jones said they would do everything you asked for $200. In this economy i'm sure there open to negotiating and price matching.
