Has anyone hooked up there fog lights to there automatic lights? When you have the auto lights on your fog lights don't go on.

YES when I set my lights to auto and it gets dark out my fog lights don't come on unless I turn the knob to select them. Has anyone modified it so they come on when it's set to auto?

yes actually its an MB computer hidden function to enable this. turn ignition to position one, turn light knob to off, Just press up, up, down, down, phone pickup, hang up, pickup, hangup, hold menu front while turn knob to auto and hold for 3 sec....a chime will play indicating the cheat worked...now you should have 99 lives............................................. .......................................wait a sec.............................this isnt contra just turn the knob on and pull back for fog....dont be lazy. the car is already automated enough.

You can't pull the knob out for the fogs when in the "auto" position. You have to move it to either parking or low beam position.

i know mark thats what i said....u have to have the knob to 'on' position (which i assume any mb c class owner will know meaning manual on(low or city)....not auto....there is no "on" written on the knob of course. and if u didnt catch it previous post was what we call sarcasm....

dunno how old the folks around here are but there was an old Konami Games cheat in the arcades for games like Contra, Simpons, Ninja Turtles, etc (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, A, B then START to get extra lives ).

Can you answer this without sarcasm...

Lerts say I want to leave the lights in "CITY" (or whtever you call the one that enables the high beams, switch all the way right) all the time with the switch pulled out to enable the fogs... can I walk away from the car and the lights will automatically turn off after a pre-programmed time?

I tried this and they never turned off (or at least not in the few minutes I went inside) which surprised me, I thought for sure MB would have a fail-safe against draining the battery...

The fail-safe is the automatic mode. That's why it's there. For those who can't remember to turn off their lights.

regardless shouldnt there be a mode where the battery will shutdown when the lowest minimal to start has been reached. Enough to still give you one good crank.

Yeah, it should have this, but I don't think it does. I think the radio does this, but not the lights. I have seen them go completely dead many times before from leaving the lights on. So I don't think they have any fail-safe.

...and if I'm not mistaken, leaving the lights in the "on" position after taking out your key, will result in that horribly annoying "beep...beep...beep...beep"

yep...

btw don't know if this is also true for non xenon/bi-xenon. If i leave my headlight "on" when I took out the key, the xenon low beam will shut off only leaving the city and fog lights on. don't know if that's suppose to be a fail safe when you forgot to turn the headlight off or what.

doesnt make much sense as xenon is supposed to consume less power then conventional halogen lights right?

Hmmm... I have xenons on my '02 C240. I thought it only did that when in the "auto" position. I'll have to check later tonight.

I try to use auto because otherwise I might forget. I am in and out of these cars all day and I have learned to ignore any beeping. Sometimes I am moving cars without closing the door and leaving them with the key in the ignition for a short time, so I pretty much ignore it. So when it comes to my car, I try to stick with auto.

I use auto all the time aswell, until I get some matching xenons bulbs for my fogs then I'll switch to manual.

yeah, xenon does use less power than halogen...oh well, I've never leave my headlight on when I got out of the car. Hope that will continue.

btw BMW has the most annoying headlight "on" warning sound... but it does a better job at warning the driver though.
